This Program provides a positive, high quality after-school sports program that emphasizes participation, teamwork, skill development, and sportsmanship for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students.
The Kyrene Middle School Intramural program is designed to teach and model positive sportsmanship while providing a fun and competitive environment where students can represent their school.
Welcome to Saturday Academy! Join us on Saturdays for the whole month of April for an awesome selection of Youth Enrichment classes! Students will participate in 3 back-to-back enrichment experiences of their choice from 9am - 12pm for a month of fantastic Saturday morning fun!
Upon registration, you will receive a link to sign up for the classes of your choice. Students will attend the selected classes in the same order each week. Class selections will be final upon submission of the form, switching will not be permitted. Once a class has reached its maximum number of students, it will no longer be listed on the registration form. Students without a submitted class form may be assigned classes by the Community Education dept.
BEST Soccer: Students will learn eye/foot and eye/hand coordination, listening skills, following directions, motor-skills, balance, teamwork and so much more! Specialty skills such as throw-ins, goalie skills, defensive moves, and passing are introduced as your child progresses through the program!
BEST Flag Football: Students will learn football terminology, good sportsmanship, passing, receiving, agility, cradling, kicking/punting, flag/touch, blocking, defense/offense skills in an energetic and highly active program which scales to students' varying skill levels!
BEST Volleyball: Students will learn Volleyball terminology, good sportsmanship, passing, serving under and overhand, bumping, setting, spiking, digging and more. Our goal and focus is to maintain an energetic and highly active program that will allow your player to enjoy and learn the joy of the game that will teach, encourage and advance your young players regardless of their skill level!
Bricks 4 Kidz - Amusement Park: Delve into the history and mechanics of favorite amusement park rides in this imaginative LEGO® session! Students will construct a Carousel Swing, Ferris Wheel, Swing-O-Rama, and Merry Go Round. Lessons incorporate principles of physics, described in a way children can understand, such as “G-force” and momentum, as well as math concepts such as “there are 360 degrees in a circle”. These engaging lessons will give students an understanding of the physical forces they experience every day. Don't miss out on all the LEGO® action packed into these classes!
Reach Basketball: Learn the basic fundamentals of shooting, dribbling, passing and teamwork while having fun, getting some exercise and playing with friends!
Young Rembrandts: Young Rembrandts teaches drawing, the fundamental skill of all visual arts. Students will learn to create silly characters, funny expressions and drawing sequences!
Registration closes at 9am on Monday, March 31st, after which no refunds will be provided.
Pick up and drop off will be on the south side of Kyrene Traditional Academy using the parking lot off of N Metro Blvd. Students will enter campus through the open vehicle gate and meet instructors in the courtyard. Parents/legal guardians may not remain on campus for Saturday Academy. Lunch will not be provided during or after Saturday Academy.
