    Module I: June 3 – 27 | 8:00 – 11:00 a.m.Instructional time focuses on introductory topics for 7th grade math. The areas will include: (1) developing understanding of and applying proportional relationships; (2) developing understanding of operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations. This is a blended course model, using Carnegie MATHia software.Module II: July 1 - 18*   | 8:00 – 11:00 a.m.Module 2 pre-requisites: A grade of B or higher in Module 1 Module 1 teacher recommendation or Show a basic understanding of the first 2 critical areas (as evidenced by the math placement test – a score of developing or higher is considered basic). Instructional time deepens students’ knowledge in 7th grade math from Module 1. The additional focuses in Module 2 are on students deepening their understanding of statistical thinking from sixth grade, and developing an understanding of chance processes and probability models. Students continue to work on a deep, mastery level understanding of critical 7th grade concepts of: (1) developing understanding of and applying proportional relationships; (2) developing understanding of operations with rational numbers and working with expressions and linear equations. This is a blended course model, using Carnegie MATHia software. Success in this class will give your child the opportunity to place at a higher level. Advanced placement is not guaranteed upon completion of one or both modules of Math 7 in Kyrene Summer Academy.2 Options for students participating in the class: 1.Preview the 7th grade math class. 2.Potential acceleration into advanced math course Look at placement data to verify that this is an accurate fit for your student.   *No class will be held July 4th.

    Module I: June 3 – 27 | 8:00 – 12:00 a.m.Instructional time focuses on introductory topics for 6th grade math. The areas will include: (1) develop understanding of ratio and rate and use multiplicative reasoning to solve ratio and rate problems; (2) Develop competency of division of whole numbers and fractions and extend the notion of number to the system of rational numbers; and (3) developing understanding of expressions, equations and inequalities. This is a blended course model, using Carnegie Mathia software.
